Peter Lockhart – Musical Director

Peter Lockhart - Musical DirectorPeter Lockhart started playing piano at 8 years under the tutelage of Ms. Edna Haynes. In later years, he also studied the recorder, pipe organ, guitar and the steel pan.

He started teaching in 1992, and his first appointment was at Coffee Boys’ Anglican School.

During his years at Coffee Boys’ A.C., he engaged in numerous music pursuits. He established school choirs and instrumental ensembles which performed quite extensively. He entered them in various festivals and was quite successful.

Mr. Lockhart joined the Southernaires in 1994 under the directorship of Ms. Joy Caesar and in the years ahead, he was appointed Assistant Musical Director.

He attended Corinth Teachers’ College in the years 1995 – 1997 where he attained his Teaching Diploma with his elective subject being Music.

In 2005, he attained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music from University of The West Indies.

He was appointed Music Teacher at Presentation College, San Fernando in 2009 where he committed to continue the high standard of work established by his predecessors Mr and Mrs Lee Mack.

In the years 2012, the Presentation College Mixed Choir traveled to London on performance tour – a feat they repeated in 2013. The Choir was featured in concerts at the Canterbury Cathedral in both years.
